Basic types

Swedish snus and American smokeless come in two basic types; loose and portions for Swedish snus and long cut loose and pouches for American smokeless. While they may look and are often mistaken for the same thing, there are differences in between snus and chew. Snus is used by placing a portion, or a prilla for loose (which ironically means ?pouch? in Swedish), in the upper lip. With American chew or Dip, the pouch or a pinch is placed in the lower lip. Both use the gums and lip interior to transfer Nicotine into the system. The drawback with Dip and chew is that you need to spit the tobacco juice out periodically where with Swedish snus, there?s no juice generated so, there?s no need to spit! It?s this factor that makes Swedish snus the preferred smokeless tobacco product to use if you want to be discreet and is often used in places where you can?t smoke like restaurants and the work place. So, let?s look at the basics of Nasal snuff.
